As the result of the research program, leaded by  A.I.Nikitin, very unusual for that time streamline GAZ-A-AERO was created. Blow tests and test drives had shown, that drag coefficient Cx was much less than with serial GAZ-A. Body of GAZ-A-AERO had wooden framework  and steel covering, V-shaped windshield, headlights, partly concealed in the front wings and rear wheels covered by cowlings. For better aerodynamics the car was deprived of bumpers, footsteps and outwardly fixed spare wheel. GAZ-A-AERO was equipped with forced up to 48 h.p. engine with aluminium cylinder head, which enables to reach speed of 106 km/h, while the maximum speed of GAZ-A was 90 km/h.
